Southmayd Home
Families who want for their loved one a more personalized residential care experience than the typical franchise facility have long seen Southmayd Home as a local jewel. For well over a century, Southmayd has provided ladies around greater Waterbury residential living with assisted care- at a more affordable price point than other options in the area.
‘Every woman should have a suitable place to live.’ This proclamation, made by the founder Sarah Donaldson in 1889, laid the foundation for a unique kind of home — and more so, for a promise. A promise by which each day, the ladies of Southmayd Home may live freely, like family, in the solace of their surrounding comforts.
Unlike so many other options, Southmayd Home is not a franchise, and is led by home care professionals and local community members. Your loved one is not just a number here. Each lady has interaction with the full staff team, while the Executive Director is on site and involved in daily happenings.
Southmayd is also a partner in your payments by helping residents fund approximately half of their living costs. Southmayd maintains affordable rates, even for those who receive no state assistance. Subsidized funding is due in part to the legacies of many residents past and present as well as generous community donors.
All nurses, aides, cooking and recreational staff are skilled and/or licensed. Staff is certified in prescription management and administering of daily medications. Southmayd Home staff has an average of 16.5 years’ experience in the healthcare field and over half of the staff has been at Southmayd Home over 10 years. The average staff-to- resident ration is 1:3 to ensure a personalized, family-like environment.
