Sunnymere

In 2014, Sunnymere celebrated 75 years of providing quality, affordable and all-inclusive, care to seniors who are no longer able to live safely on their own. All meals, housekeeping, laundry and activities are included in the monthly cost. There is no ‘buy in.’ Last year, we upgraded and replaced our elevator, installed a Handicapped Lift, and now offer a Philips Lifeline Personal Security System for our residents.

Sunnymere was built with an endowment from Jessie Farnsworth, who donated her estate and the land to construct a home for older persons. We are still using her endowment today.

As a small community (Maximum 47 residents), we are able to provide a more personalized, and ‘homey’ care for our residents. Sunnymere is located adjacent to the Phillips Park Golf Course in Aurora IL with a large veranda overlooking the 14th Fairway. We have many antiques, hardwood floors, high ceilings, and large windows. We like to say it is ‘like living in a Bed and Breakfast.’

As the daughter of one of our residents said, ‘I’m so glad my Dad is here. You do all the day-to-day ‘work’ of eldercare, and that allows me to be his daughter, not his caregiver, so our time together is spent enjoying our time together.’
