Grand Lake Gardens

Grand Lake Gardens is a residential independent living community in the heart of the Grand-Lakeshore District, offering a lifestyle filled with engagement in and outside the community. Access to higher levels of care are available at our sister community Piedmont Gardens.

The intimate, boutique-style atmosphere sets the community apart from other large high-rise or expansive communities. The residents and team members come together to create a vibrant lifestyle in which each person has the opportunity to grow and learn intellectually, socially, spiritually and physically. Grand Lake Gardens is centrally located in Oakland, close to the renowned Grand Lake Theater and within walking distance of Lake Merritt and the eclectic Grand-Lakeshore district which offers shops, restaurants, post office, drug stores and many other businesses and services.

Grand Lake Gardens is a non-profit residential living community owned and managed by Human Good, and has been serving seniors for over 50 years.

Services included in the monthly fee are bi-weekly housekeeping, maintenance, a flexible dining program, 24/7 emergency response, and most utilities. A variety of life-enrichment programs are scheduled seven days a week, and complimentary transportation is offered Monday-Thursday. Secured garage parking is also available for an additional fee.

Our Residential Plus services can be added in to provide additional housekeeping and laundry service, medication management, and up to 2 hours per day of help with ADL’s or other wellness visits.

Grand Lake Gardens offers attractive gardens and walking paths, and a recently renovated courtyard with new seating and conversation areas in the center of the building. Our community areas include a large Dining Room and Grand Assembly meeting room with expansive views of the Oakland Hills and Grand Lake skyline. Newly renovated central garden courtyard, and multiple gardens are easily accessible for enjoyment and active gardening by residents. Other resident lounges and sitting room style lounges are located on each floor. Library, theater, art space and gaming room provide added entertainment and meeting areas.There are also laundry facilities located on all apartment floors for resident use.
