Hayes Manor Retirement Residence

Hayes Manor is a licensed non- profit, non -sectarian independent and personal care home, located in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. We are an old Victorian building, nestled on 10 acres, next to the Bala Golf Club. We are located just a few blocks away from City Line Avenue. We have been providing quality care and essential services to seniors who are 62 years of age or older for more than 128 years.

Hayes Manor has been a free-standing facility since its founding, and is not affiliated with any hospital, church, or the government. As an independent facility, Hayes Manor receives no umbrella or government funding. Hayes Manor is licensed to provide independent living accommodations, personal care services, and hospice care as needed to 65 residents annually in its 53 personal care units and 12 independent living apartments.

The age of Hayes Manor residents range between the mid 60’s to the late 90’s and represent a diverse group of cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

In addition to their individually controlled heating/air conditioning, 3 daily appetizing and nutritious meals, morning and evening snacks, housekeeping, laundry services, 24 hour healthcare, 24 hour security, barber/beautician services, and weekly shopping trips, Hayes Manor residents are offered a full schedule of daily activities that include pet therapy, music and art therapy, shopping trips, theatre outings, excursions to Atlantic City, New York, King of Prussia, and Downtown Philadelphia, and numerous rotating activities in the Hayes Manor recreation room that include a book club, bridge club, and educational classes offered by visiting members of the community. In addition, mobile Hayes Manor residents maintain seasonal outdoor herb and flower gardens. The Manor’s Activities Director also plans lively holiday parties and concerts, birthday celebrations, and other commemorative festivities, and solicits donations of tickets and free or low cost admissions to community attractions to ensure that residents are able to experience a home-like environment and a full range of enrichment activities to keep them as physically and mentally active as they were prior to coming to live at Hayes Manor.

Hayes Manor is one of the few retirement residences in the region that offers all-inclusive services as part of the monthly fees which range, depending on the housing accommodation and level of care selected, between $1,800 and $2,600 a month. All potential residents’ income should meet the monthly cost associated with the unit choice.

Hayes Manor maintains strong relationships with area hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to handle medical needs of residents the Manor is not licensed to provide, should they arise. However, Hayes Manor residents, for the most part, are mobile, active, and in good health when they enter the residence, and the majority of them, by far, will spend the remainder of their years at the home without the need for skilled nursing care. Those who develop compromised health and/or mobility issues as they age will receive assisted care according to their needs. With the exception of feeding tubes and the need for continual IV’s, Hayes Manor is equipped to meet the most healthcare challenges these residents will experience, including the provision of hospice care. On average, 90% of Hayes Manor’s residents never require care beyond that which can be provided at the Manor.
