John Knox Village East is one of the most budget-friendly senior living communities in the areas of Lafayette, Johnson, Saline, Ray, and Jackson County. We are the only Life Care Community in this are granting residents the capability to age in place and deliver long-term care needs in case they arise at an anticipated, affordable rate. Meyer Care Center, a health center located in John Knox Village East campus, started way back in 1965 when George J. and Hilda Meyer Foundation generously donated 546 acres of land in the 1960 to be developed into a nursing home and hospital. Their idea for a hospital did not materialize and in 1975, Independent Living apartments were established to provide the wide range of care in one place. Our Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing units function as part of the George J and Hilda Meyer Foundation, which is a non-profit organization, letting extra resources to be invested back to the community to improve facilities of John Knox Village East & Meyer Care Center for our beloved residents.

We are situated in a 40-acre land in Higginsville, MO which is about an hour drive from East of Kansas City. Higginsville was included in the Top 10 list of best places to retire in the state of Missouri. With Kansas City nearby, our residents can enjoy the best of both worlds of a warmth and practicality of a small town and explore wide range dining and shopping options in Kansas City. Our leadership staff has a total of more than 50 years of experience in senior living. We are the only 5-star-rated health center in the area.

One of the best services we offer is the various levels of care (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing) our residents can move around into within the facility. This is particularly interesting to dual residents that needs different levels of care. Those who are in Assisted Living can simply just walk down the hall to visit those who are in the Independent Living units. No need to drive to another town. Basic items you need are obtainable within the property. Our seniors could take advantage of the exercise and wellness programs, transportations, meals, beauty and barber shop, convenience store, housekeeping, laundry, fitness center and many more. In case the need arises, physical, occupational, cardiac, and speech therapies are all offered on-site and our therapists will be more than happy to provide service to you in the comfort of your own apartment unit.

Recently, the facility had undergone restoration and the building of 16 rehab suites, a physical therapy gym, a renewed kitchen, and brand new, improved dining areas.
