Safe Haven Adult Foster Care
Safe Haven is a 6-bed capacity home licensed under the rules of Adult Foster Care. It is designed to provide residential care to the aged who may require help to manage their incontinence, nutritional and medication needs, hygiene and grooming and to those who suffer from Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
The mission of Safe Haven is to provide loving care and quality services to maintain the pride and dignity of our aging population so that it can continue to enjoy an independent living lifestyle for as long as necessary.
My late husband, Jose Gonzales, Jr. was my inspiration when I opened my small group home facility, The Safe Haven Adult Foster Care, in August 2006.
Having taken cared of Joe for 13 years and 4 months nurtures in me an unyielding passion not only to take care of the sick adult and those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia but most especially the family and friends who take care of their love ones.
As the illness progresses, the physical and mental demands on the part of the caregiver can gradually become overwhelming. Physical tasks like bathing, dressing and aid with toileting may require total assistance. The level of supervision required also increases with time. Night time behavior may not allow a caregiver to sleep, and with some patients, belligerent or aggressive behaviors may exceed a caregiver’s ability to cope or feel safe.
